Giving Back

As a community minded person I believe that “giving back” is an essential part of life. My husband is a former city official and in that capacity, I have been to numerous fund raisers throughout the community over the years. I am well-aware of the good work that people in the community do to help others and have done my own small part in that regard. I have regularly allocated funds from closed escrows to the Dilbeck Charitable Foundation.

In the past I have successfully petitioned to have the Dilbeck Charitable Foundation donate funds to “Glendale Healthy Kids.”  My husband and I have hosted a fundraiser at the holidays at our own home to benefit them as well. For our efforts on behalf of Glendale Healthy Kids, we received the “Helping Hands Award” for 2008.

For the Glendale Centennial, I spearheaded a project with Watercolor Artist Lyn Conlan who donated her services to paint 5 Historic Buildings in the City of Glendale. I then had Giclee’ copies made of each painting, framed them and they were auctioned off at five local fund raising events in that year, totally over $7000 in funds for various worthy causes.

In the past, I spearheaded the involvement of my Real Estate office at that time to participate in the Glendale “Relay for Life.” Our office had a team and raised funds and even when I moved to another brokerage, they continued the tradition.

My main charitable cause is the Arbor Day program through a local community organization called, “Glendale Beautiful.” This organization is the reason that Glendale has so many trees. Citizens purchases trees on behalf of or in memory of people and Glendale Beautiful donates the trees to the city and they are planted throughout the parks and parkways of Glendale. I donated a tree for every client I close escrow with. Several years ago, I donated 13 trees at once in the memory of former Glendale Mayor, Ginger Bremberg. The entire allocation of trees was planted in conjunction with ‘The Tree People’ on a hot summer day at Glenoaks Elementary School. For more information about how you can purchase a tree through Glendale Beautiful, please give me a call and I can put you in touch with the right person. (818) 668-4005
