Adams Hill
Adams Hill is famous for its bohemian enclave of artists, writers, young professionals, tradespeople, and boasts many third-generation residents. Adams Street, which winds over the hills and into Los Angeles, gives the neighborhood its name. Glenoaks Canyon
Named for Glenoaks Boulevard, the name is derived from a combination of “Glendale” and the natural feature of the area, the oak tree. Driving into Glenoaks Canyon one gets the feeling of entering a California of the 1930’s. Here, Spanish style courtyard homes are intermingled with ranch homes and much of the local activity centers around the neighborhood parks and the elementary school. Montecito Park got it’s name from the Spanish phrase, “little mountain.” A neighborhood of custom built homes from the 1920s and 1930s – which include historical Spanish Colonial Revival style homes and tree-shaded streets – Montecito Park is a hidden gem in the Jewel City. Sparr Heights, once the center of a thriving orchard business, was the terminus for the Glendale to Montrose streetcar system. Montrose
Montrose is one of Glendale’s most desired neighborhoods. It’s like a bit of Mayberry in the city. The family owned mom and pop stores mixed with eclectic restaurants and a walkable downtown make it a location that people flock to just to hang out and have fun. There is a Farmer’s Market every Sunday as well as numerous arts and crafts shows, a car show, Christmas Parade and even Oktoberfest. Verdugo Woodlands
Verdugo Woodlands encompasses the area west of Verdugo Road, south of Oakmont Country Club, and north of Verdugo Park. It is nestled in a lush valley between the Verdugo Mountains on the west and the San Rafael Hills to the east. The Woodlands is named for and filled with a wonderful combination of trees including California Live Oak, Evergreen, Jacaranda, Sycamore, and Palm. It has a rich Spanish, Mexican and American history dating from 1784. Since nearly all of Verdugo Woodlands was developed before the 1970′s, the area has thousands of beautiful mature trees and very few vacant lots.
